Administration
Attendance Dashboard
The Attendance Dashboard view is a central place to view the student's daily attendance swipes.
Also included is an Unknown to Absent button, which should be pressed daily at the end of the day -- this will convert any student's attendance objects whose state is unknown, to absent, making for a cleaner final report.
The Daily Engagement Download button will generate a report in the background and attach the created file in an email to you. This view will use the "ATS Daily Engagement Template" file setting as a template through which to generate the file, please see the Attendance Settings and Permissions page for more information.
All Engagement List
The All Engagement List is a view for viewing (and editing) of any section's engagement. This view is term and year specific.
Upon clicking on a section, users with the relevant permissions can edit any week's engagement.
The editing page directly mirrors that of what the teacher can access through the Engagements (Header Menu) View.
Engagement Dashboard
The Engagement Dashboard provides a single list for administrators to see which teachers have not taken engagement for a given week.
The weeks presented in the right sidebar are expandable to provide detailed information.
Restricted Access List View
The Restricted Access List View shows all Restricted Access models in the system.
From this view, users with the relevant permissions can create a Restricted Access object. They will be asked to provide the following fields:
- Name
- Type Of Access
- Autogenerate Log
- Log Type
- Sub-Log Type
- Log Content
- Priority
Users can also click to view any specific Restricted Access model. On this page, they will be able to view:
- ID
- Name
- Type
- Generate Log (and associated fields if "Yes")
From the view screen, users are also able to edit. The edit page will ask for the following fields:
- Name
- Type of Access
- Log Type
- Sub-Log Type
- Log Content
- Priority
From the view screen, users are also able to click the swipe view. This view is optimized to work without a mouse, for a barcode scanner only, fields like period and cycle will persist from swipe to swipe. Upon swiping a student in, their picture and schedule will appear in either green or red on the right side of the screen, either indicating admittance or lack therein.
A running count will also be displayed, along with a record of the past few recent swipe ins on the lower part of the page.
Also from the view screen, users are also able to click the download logs button which will provide a download of all related log objects for the given restricted access object -- please be patient as this view can occasionally take quite a while to generate.
Teacher / Staff Use
Engagements (Header Menu)
This view acts as a dashboard for users with the relevant permissions (recommended to be teachers and staff who teaches courses) to enter engagement. The view will contain a list of all sections the teacher teaches.
Upon clicking on a course, they will be taken to that sections engagement view. It is from this view that they can select a specific week to take engagement for -- depending on how the administrators have configured your school's system, some weeks may be uneditable.
On the engagement editing page, each student in the course will appear with a checkbox beside their name. Checked indicates "engaged" whereas unchecked indicates "unengaged", the checkbox in the header row can be used to toggle all checkboxes one way or the other. This view will save upon use of the save button, and can be returned to for future use.
Engagement Overview
The Engagement Overview page is a dashboard for use by teachers, or counselors, to quickly determine students who are consistently being marked as not engaged.
For a teacher, the view will combine all students across sections and display useful values, whereas for a counselor, it will combine all of their students overall. The Student ID column is hyperlinked to each student for each of navigation around the site.
Student / Parent Use
Take Attendance View
If users have the relevant permission, and the Daily Attendance setting is set to true, the take attendance view will be an embedded form on a student's detail (dashboard) page.
This view is a single button that is protected by reCAPTCHA so as to prevent automated bots from taking attendance. This view has very descriptive error messages and success messages to prevent students from thinking they have taken attendance when they haven't.
Attendance Tab
Users with the relevant permission can view the Attendance Tab from a student detail (dashboard) view.
This view is dependent upon the selected school year / term, and displays an overview of the selected year / term in the left column on the page. In the right column it displays an overview of the last few related attendance objects, this includes:
- Section
- Taken At
- Status
- Taken By
- This will be the user who took the attendance. If it was created during the automated Unknown to Absent action, then the user will be "Talos" itself.
